KAMLOOPS — Former Kamloops RCMP Officer Randi Love has pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance.

Love was facing trafficking charges, but entered a plea to simple possession.

According to her lawyer, Brad Smith, a date for a sentencing hearing has not been set.

Love was the Kamloops detachment's media relations officer in 2009.

According to RCMP E-Division, police became aware of allegations involving Love on July 16, 2015, and launched a comprehensive investigation.

At the time, Love was still a member of the force but was then suspended from duty on August 7, 2015.

In October, 2015, Love submitted her discharge papers.
