KAMLOOPS —  RCMP have nabbed a thief after he targeted the wrong vehicle.

Corporal Jodi Shelkie says, on three separate occasions last month, the man broke into and took items from an RCMP bait vehicle.

“The dates, all in October were just a few days apart from each other,” said Shelkie. “Bait vehicles are used to deter theft from vehicles, and theft of vehicles.”

In provincial court this afternoon, 31 year old Joadth Anderson of Kamloops pleaded guilty to two counts of theft under $5000 and two counts of breach of probation.

He was sentenced to 100 days in jail.

Shelkie notes bait vehicles are in Kamloops from time to time, and in this case, officers left items inside one such vehicle that are typically the types of items often stolen.

She reminds local residents to remove personal items from vehicles so as not to attract potential break-ins.
