SUN PEAKS, B.C. — Sun Peaks Resort is officially pushing back its winter opening date.

The ski lifts were to begin operation this Saturday, but the resort says a new date will be announced shortly.

According to a notice on the Sun Peaks website, the weather hasn’t allowed crews to prepare the mountain for the first skiers and snowboarders of the season.

The resort says short term forecasts are encouraging for both natural snow and artificial snowmaking.
