KAMLOOPS — A wildfire reported earlier today just east of Barnhartvale is now out.

Fire Information Officer Melissa Klassen says the blaze grew to only 10 metres by 10 metres in size, and was extinguished by an initial attack crew.

Klassen says the fire is believed to be person-caused and indicates it’s evidence that conditions can change quickly.

“Currently, the fire danger rating through the Kamloops Fire Centre is ‘very low’ to ‘low.’ That is definitely representative to the amount of precipitation we have received over the last couple of weeks. We are anticipating a warm and drying trend to start officially tomorrow,” said Klassen.
