Suspicious death investigation in Kelowna

KELOWNA — RCMP have secured the scene of a death being treated as suspicious in Kelowna’s downtown.
 
“On July 2, 2016 at 1:45 am, a 911 emergency call was made and the Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death at a residence in the 800 block of Cawston Avenue,” says Cst. Jesse O’ Donaghey . “Upon arriving at scene, officers discovered a deceased 48-year old woman. The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are unclear at this time and police are treating her death as suspicious in nature.”
 
A 53-year-old Kelowna man has been detained for investigation and remains in police custody.

RCMP have reason to believe that this was an isolated incident and the public is not at risk.
 
The investigation has been handed over to the Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit , and RCMP continue to work closely with the BC Coroners Service.

“The scene has been secured by investigators, who are now awaiting a search warrant for the property,’ says Cst. O’Donaghey.
