KAMLOOPS — Many Kamloops mounties will be trading in their cruisers for bikes, boats, and a good pair of shoes this summer.

Uniformed officers will be conducting foot patrols primarily in the Downtown area, the North Shore and various parks.

Corporal Jodi Shelkie says there are benefits to having officers on bike patrols.

“Bikes are very effective at going places not easily accessible by our police cars. We can respond rapidly, and often unexpectedly on suspicious persons and activities,” stated Skelkie.
