SALMON ARM, B.C. — The North Okanagan Shuswap school board has been dismissed by BC’s Education Minister, and replaced with an official trustee.

Minister Mike Bernier made the change based on a report from a special advisor who looked into problems with the board.

“The report found the board is not functioning well. The situation would appeal, unfortunately, to even be deteriorating within the community and district. The community has lost confidence in the board,” Bernier told a media tele-conference.

It’s only the ninth time since 1965 a school board has been dismissed in BC.
