KAMLOOPS — For many, there’s nothing quite like enjoying a cold beer; but how much do you know about the brew you’re sipping? If you’re a craft beer enthusiast, or aspire to know more about the beverage, Thompson Rivers University Student Union is hosting an event you’ll want to attended.

The International Beer Tasting and Seminar starts Wednesday evening at 6pm at the TRU Grand Hall. The event will feature some fantastic brews, as well as an opportunity to learn a little more about the delicious beverage.

“We have 10 tastings of international craft beer from around the world,” TRUSU VP Internal Eric Rankin told CFJC Today. “We’re complimenting that with some [appetizers] that will pair with the beers, and along with that we’’ have seminars throughout the day that will be talking about the historical and cultural significance of beer.”

TRUSU has partnered with staff from Red Beard Cafe for the event, which will feature craft brewed beers from across North America, and the world. “I’m really excited about the Icelandic beer,” Rankin said, when asked about highlights of the event. “We have beers from Japan, Europe, the US, and we have some from Quebec, [but] it’ll be nice to try something from Iceland, because you don’t really go to Iceland that often.”

There are still tickets for the event, and Rankin mentioned it’s not only for TRU Students. Community members are welcome, and tickets are available at the TRUSU desk, at the Campus Activity Centre.
