STI testing made easy in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops is one of five BC communities that will be part of pilot project meant to make testing for sexually-transmitted infections easier and more secure.

The Get-Checked-Online program has already been up and running for 18 months in Vancouver.

Interior Health HIV and Health Outreach Manager Maja Karlsson says it’s a simple way for anyone to find out if they have an STI.

“We know there are people who are reluctant to visit a clinic or physician’s office to get tested. This program removes barriers and makes it easier and more convenient.” said Karlsson, “We hope that this new service will encourage more people to get tested and get tested more often. Finding out if you have an STI is a critical step in getting medical care and controlling the spread of infections to others.”
