It was a project that was intended to revitalize downtown Kamloops, stimulate the local arts community, and provide economic growth to the City. But over the weekend, Kamloops residents shot down the idea of building a performing arts centre at the former location of the Kamloops Daily News. In Saturday’s referendum, residents were asked if the City should borrow up to 49-million dollars to build the facility, and 54-percent of voters said no. It’s no surprise, the results come as a huge disappointment to the Kamloops arts community.
