Fast Eddy Halfway There

The Kamloops man who calls himself Fast Eddy has run clear across Canada but says he’s only halfway to his goal.

Edward Dostaler started running on Vancouver Island in March and today made it to the Terry Fox Mile Zero marker in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Dostaler says he hasn’t grasped his accomplishment quite yet.

“A little bit anticlimactic,” said Dostaler. “I don’t want to take anything away from what anyone’s ever done. Running across Canada is a huge accomplishment for a lot of people. My goal is to run there and back.”

Dostaler is raising awareness and money for breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease causes.

Dostaler still has a busy week ahead of him.

Wednesday he plans to reach his eastern-most point, Friday he hopes to do a 24-hour run, and Sunday he will participate in a local CIBC Run for the Cure event before heading west.
