KAMLOOPS — The son of a Kamloops woman who was the victim of a homicide in 2023 has been charged in his mother’s death.

B.C.’s Court Services Online (CSO) shows Brandon Jeremiah Karl Donovan was charged with one count of murder on Friday (Sept. 13). The date of the offence was March 13, 2023 — the day his mother, 57-year-old Jo-Anne Donovan, was last seen. The city of the offence was listed as Kamloops.

Jo-Anne Donovan’s body was found near their shared Warrens Trailer Park home in Westsyde on March 22, 2023.

In a news release issued Friday (Sept. 13), Kamloops RCMP confirmed the 35-year-old Donovan was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder. His matter is now before the courts.

Sgt. Nestor Baird of the Kamloops RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit noted the efforts of all the officers, units and support staff involved in the investigation.

“They have worked diligently in gathering all available evidence, to submit a complete and thorough package for review and charge approval by the BC Prosecution Service, resulting in today’s arrest,” Baird says.

Donovan spoke to CFJC Today days after his mother was reported missing, pleading the public for help in locating her.
