Overnight closures announced Thursday for emergency departments in Merritt, Williams Lake

MERRITT AND WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Interior Health (IH) announced overnight closures at emergency room in Merritt and Williams Lake late in the day Thursday (July 4).
In news releases distributed to local media, IH says the emergency room at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake from 7:30 p.m. Thursday to 7:30 a.m. Friday. Those who require emergency services are advised to attend hospitals in either 100 Mile House, Quesnel or Bella Coola.
In Merritt, the emergency department at Nicola Valley Hospital will be closed from 6:00 p.m. Thursday to 7:00 a.m. Friday. Residents who need to see an emergency physician are urged to attend Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
Both closures are attributed to limited nursing availability.
