WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — A contentious labour dispute between the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) and the B.C. General and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) has come to an end with a ratified contract.

In a news release, the CRD says BCGEU members ratified the three-year contract in voting conducted Wednesday (July 3).

The deal will see members receive a 12.5 per cent wage increase over the three-year term, which is retroactive to November 1, 2023.

The district says the new contract also “changes language covering on-call pay rates and eligibility, overtime for call-in work, clarifications for compassionate care leave eligibility, and a health and wellness expense allowance.”
