SEYMOUR INVESTIGATION

Two separate investigations ongoing at fire-damaged Kamloops home

KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a major crimes investigation involving a downtown Kamloops home damaged by fire is not related to the fire itself.

An update shared by Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn Wednesday (April 12) states the cause of the April 6 blaze at a home at Ninth Avenue and Seymour Street is undetermined.

“A subsequent investigation conducted by police and fire investigators concluded the fire’s cause as undeterminable at this time,” said Evelyn.

The Southeast District Major Crimes Unit arrived at the scene the day after the fire, but police say that is not directly related to the investigation into the fire.

“Currently, officers continue to secure the residence while members of the Southeast District Major Crime Unit advance a separate investigation associated to that address,” said Southeast District RCMP spokesperson Cpl. James Grandy.

RCMP say there won’t be any further details revealed about either investigation.
