Apr 16, 2022 | 5:50 PM

KAMLOOPS – Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) was called to a fire that broke out in a gully near the Thompson Rivers University residences Saturday afternoon.

At least five fire trucks and well over a dozen personnel responded to the fire which was first reported after 4 p.m. A fire official called the blaze “sizeable”.

Smoke rising from the fire could be seen in many parts of the city.

The location of the fire made it difficult for crews to access the flames. Not only was it located in a gully, but several large trees made it difficult to access.

Fire crews are expected to fall several trees to attack the fire and end any threat it might pose.

No structures have been impacted by the fire.

It’s not clear how the fire began but KFR told CFJC Today that an investigation is ongoing.

No injuries have been reported.
