Kamloops Fire Rescue knocks down grass fire at Arrowstone Park

KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) is once again warning residents of how dry the climate is.

Firefighters responded to a grass fire at Arrowstone Park in Lower Sahali Thursday (March 24) evening. Will Harlock, acting platoon captain, says the 100 sq. ft. radius fire was spreading towards Gibraltar Court before it was put out.

“We weren’t unable to find an ignition source because we soaked the area down,” Harlock told CFJC Today. “It’s sad to say that people are not being as cautious if they are walking through and discarding a cigarette, or if they are intentionally set. The majority (of fires) we’ve responded to in the last little while are along areas where there are paths. Be aware and cautious of how dry it is. Those winds dry out the area a lot quicker than the warm air too.”
