KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) has responded to 29 per cent fewer incidents this year compared to 2019.

According to data contained within KFR’s Third Quarter statistics report, medical incidents have dropped by 48.5 per cent, and make up 1,589 of the 3,505 incidents through September.

Due to COVID-19 KFR is only being dispatched to the most critical medical events. Through September of 2019, KFR had responded to 3,087 medical incidents.

While there is a noted drop in medical incidents in 2020, calls that require naloxone to be administered remain high, with 33 incidents. There were 15 of these incidents through September in 2019 and 37 for the same time frame in 2018.
