Kamloops RCMP searching for suspect in violent liquor store robbery

KAMLOOPS — A large police presence in the Sahali area of Kamloops is due to a liquor store robbery.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release that officers responded to a report of a robbery at U District Liquor Store on McGill Road this afternoon (March 19).

At 12:25 p.m., Shelkie says, a man entered the store and slashed the employee with a knife before stealing money from the till and running away. Officers set up a perimeter but haven’t located the suspect.

Police are asking for the public to help them locate the suspect. He’s described as Indigenous, wearing glasses, in his 30s and has red/orange hair on top of his head. He was wearing black and tan boots.

If you see this man, don’t approach him and call 911.

The employee was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
