Coquihalla cherry truck fire stems Saturday traffic

KAMLOOPS — A spectacular semi trailer fire closed the Coquihalla Highway late Saturday afternoon.

The fire erupted in the northbound lanes just south of Kamloops at about 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

Photos from the scene showed the tractor pulled away, leaving the trailer burning on the shoulder. There is no word if anyone was injured.

Unconfirmed social media accounts stated the trailer was full of cherries.

A fire engine was called out to douse the flames.

The northbound lanes re-opened about three hours after the fire was reported.
