James Peters - News Director

James Peters is our News Director, promoted to the position in the fall of 2023. He got the journalism bug as a youth and hasn’t been able to shake it since. The fever really started to set in shortly after James graduated from Garden Valley Collegiate in Winkler, Manitoba, when he was hired as a reporter for his hometown CKMW-CFAM Radio. Before he knew which way to point the microphone, he was interviewing Governor General Romeo LeBlanc. Though he took a break to dabble in the clergy, James returned to broadcast news in 2005 with CHUB-CFDV in Red Deer, Alberta. In the summer of 2006, he snapped up the opportunity to move to the award-winning CFJC-TV newsroom in Kamloops. James was appointed Assistant News Director in the fall of 2018 and, from 2006 to 2023, James anchored afternoon newscasts on B-100 and 98.3 CIFM. His newscasts have been honoured as the best small market newscast in BC six times by the RTDNA, and twice as the best small market newscast in Canada. In addition, he contributes weekly editorials to the CFJC Evening News, and tweets regularly (@Jamloops). James handles responsibilities for our community portal, CFJCToday.com. When he’s not working, James enjoys spending time with his wife Jennie, his daughter Eden, and his son Jovan.
