Updated: Traffic flowing after Highway 5 vehicle incident near Blue River

BLUE RIVER — A vehicle incident has reduced Highway 5 to single lane alternating traffic outside of Blue River this afternoon. 

According to DriveBC, a vehicle incident at Messiter Summit Rest Area (3 km north of Messiter Summit) had the road closed earlier today.

No complaints over Coquihalla maintenance amidst mild winter: Merritt mayor

KAMLOOPS — With a milder winter thus far, driving the Coquihalla has been a little more tame than it usually is. However, Merritt's new mayor says she still plans to speak to the Transportation Ministry about maintenance standards when snow returns to the treacherous winter highway.

Highway crashes threatening drinking water supply in North Thompson

VAVENBY, BC — On December 30th, a transport truck went into the North Thompson River just south of Avola, rupturing its fuel tanks and spilling over 300 litres of fuel into the river. The incident prompted the TNRD to issue a “Do Not Use” order for residents downstream of the spill.
