Ellen’s Leaving Here Show?

Ellen DeGeneres has been a reliable entre on America’s TV diet for decades, most recently with her long-runing The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

But in an interview published in The New York Times Wednesday, the 60-year-old confesses that the can’t go on forever; while she did extend her contract through 2020, she says she seriously considered quitting.

So why did she continue? She says her brother Vance DeGeneres told her that “in the age of Trump, the country needs her positive, unifying voice on television every day.”

But her wife Portia de Rossi wants her to quit, DeGeneres reveals.

“I just think she’s such a brilliant actress and stand-up that it doesn’t have to be this talk show for her creativity,” admits de Rossi. “There are other things she could tackle.”
