A Power Meeting with a Royal

Dec 5, 2018 | 5:30 AM

The Duchess of Sussex held a secret “power meeting” with former First Lady Michelle Obama in London Monday night, the Evening Standard reports.

Their conversation reportedly followed Michelle’s “inspirational” sell-out speech at the Royal Festival Hall, which Meghan attended. She was there of course to discuss her new memoir, Becoming; novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was there as moderator.

THE TALK

What did two of the most visible women on earth discuss? According to sources, they discussed the importance of supporting and empowering women across the world, the Standard reports.

Both Michelle and Meghan have long advocated for women. They also discussed their shared experiences of pregnancy, and the cause of girls’ education.

The pair are expected to remain in touch.

FAST FACTS:

  • Michelle goes way back with royals. In 2016, Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry hosted President Barack Obama and Michelle for a private dinner.
  • Michelle, 54, also recently offered Meghan, 37, some advice in an interview in Good Housekeeping. She said: “my biggest piece of advice would be to take some time and don’t be in a hurry to do anything,”
  • Michelle added: “What I’d say is that there’s so much opportunity to do good with a platform like that – and I think Meghan can [maximize] her impact for others, as well her own happiness, if she’s doing something that resonates with her personally.”
