Charlie Puth returned to his alma mater, Berklee College of Music, while celebrating his latest album Voicenotes with Spotify on Thursday night in Boston.

Spotify hosted the special workshop and intimate live performance, during which Charlie was joined by singer Kara DioGuardi (his former teacher) and the students.

“I’m on cloud nine right now, you know why?” Charlie asked the crowd gathered at Cafe 939 on campus. “I played a show in front of 15,000 people last night. But my first show ever was in this room, it’s come full circle.”

Charlie also gave advice to the upper semester top-performing students from the songwriting department. He listened to the their original songs, sang along, and provided feedback, including, “Your hit song is not in the distant future, it can be as close as you want it to be. Don’t get frustrated.”
