Katy’s Celebrating

Last June marked Katy Perry’s first full-length release in nearly four years with Witness, her fifth studio album to date. Now, a year after its initial release, noticed that the deluxe version made its way to streaming services Friday, tacking on two grooving bonus tracks: “Dance With the Devil” and “Act My Age.”

Perry has marked the one-year anniversary by releasing a new deluxe edition of the LP – and some behind-the-scenes footage of the process behind it.

In a heartfelt birthday card for the album, Perry reflects on the year she’s spent touring in support of Witness and what she’s learned from the experience. “Thank you for witnessing me,” she writes. “I hope I’ve helped you feel safe, seen & celebrated while on tour!”

She then pointed fans in the direction of a video of her and her team working on “Power” in the studio, complete with chatter in between takes and snippets of the track in progress. She opens up about her relationship with her mother, and how talks through the inspiration for the lyrics as they come to her.
