CHARLIZE THERON TO PLAY MEGYN KELLY: It has been two years since Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes stepped down amid reports of sexual misconduct, and now an as-yet-untitled film is being created about his epic downfall. Charlize Theron is set to star as Megyn Kelly, who described his harassment in her landmark 2016 memoir, Settle for More. Ailes died in 2017 and denied the allegations. GLAAD FILM REPORT FINDS DROP IN LGBTQ REPRESENTATION: GLAAD‘s annual Studio Responsibility Index shows a drop in representation of LGBTQ people in films released by the seven largest motion picture studios and their subsidiaries, 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight, Lionsgate, Roadside Attractions, Paramount, Sony, Sony Pictures Classics, Universal, Focus Features, Disney, and Warner Bros. Last year, of 109 releases, only 14 (12.8%) featured LGBTQ characters, a decrease from 2016, where 18.4% of films had LGBTQ characters. Last year marked the lowest percentage of inclusive films since tracking began in 2012.

GINA RODRIGUEZ, DAVID THEWLIS JOIN BIG MOUTH: Netflix‘s pubescent animated comedy Big Mouth has nabbed Gina Rodriguez (Jane: The Virgin) and David Thewlis (Fargo). They join creator Nick Kroll and real life BFF Andrew Goldberg (Family Guy), among others, including Maya Rudolph.

NETFLIX DROPS TRAILER FOR THE STAIRCASE: Jean Xavier de Lestrade has created a Peabody Award-winning docuseries called The Staircase. It documents Michael Peterson‘s arrest, legal battle and eventual conviction for the murder of wife, and then the series of events that led to a new trial and yet another conviction for manslaughter. (He maintains his innocence). Three new episodes of The Staircase will appear on Netflix, along with the original portions of the docuseries, on June 8th.
