Kevin Hart’s “Friend”Charged

USA Today has reported that a man has been charged with trying to extort money from Kevin Hart by threatening to release a video that was secretly recorded of the actor/comedian with a woman in Las Vegas. Los Angeles County prosecutors have charged Jonathan Todd Jackson with attempted extortion and extortion by threatening letter. Jackson is in police custody on $100,000 bail after being arrested on Monday (April 30th).

Prosecutors alleged that Jackson tried to extort an undisclosed amount of money from Hart back in August, then tried to sell the video to celebrity news outlets.

  • According to TMZ, Hart and Jackson have been friends for over 15 years and he even costarred in Hart’s 2014 film, Think Like a Man Too.
  • After the charges were announced, Hart took to Twitter and wrote, “Mind blown…Hurt…at a lost for words and simply in complete disbelief at the moment. WOW.”
  • According to E! News, Jackson faces up to four years in jail
