Kesha’s Finding Herself

May 2, 2018 | 6:15 AM

In the latest issue of Cosmopolitan, Kesha discusses how she’s changed as an artist and as a person since she first found success back in 2009.

“I thought I had to be very tough and really strong and portray that I didn’t give a f**k, and that just was not the case,” she says of her younger self. “I was pretending like everything was great all the time.”

After finally acknowledging her issues – including her struggles with an eating disorder – and turning her pain into a Grammy-nominated album, Kesha feels she’s finding her true confidence.

“I’m not a size. I’m not a number,” she says. “I am a strong, bada**, motherf***ing woman, and quite frankly, I like my junk. Ten years ago, I never thought I’d be able to say that.”

Kesha kicks off her joint tour with Macklemore this summer and she plans to show off her new attitude. “I’ve taken ownership of myself. I’m taking control of my life and my name and the music it’s attached to,” Kesha says. “I’m not, like, a sad sap now. There are a couple of ballads, but my show is still extremely fun.”

She adds, “I’m not going to be less crazy. There’s an awesome band, and there’s dancing and glitter. That’s a promise I will keep – there will always be glitter.”

The Adventures of Kesha and Mackelmore tour starts June 6th in Phoenix, Arizona.
