ANTONIO BANDERAS & PENELOPE CRUZ SIGN ON FOR DOLOR Y GLORIA: Pedro Almodovar has set the stars for his upcoming film Dolor Y Gloria (Pain & Glory). His production house El Deseo announced that Almodovar will reunite with Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz for the film, which will chronicle a series of reunions in the past and present as a director considers his creative decline. CATHY YAN TO DIRECT HARLEY QUINN FILM: Warner Bros and DC Entertainment have picked Cathy Yan to direct the untitled girl gang movie centering on Harley Quinn. Margot Robbie will star. Yan is the first female Asian director to helm a major superhero flick and the second woman, after Wonder Woman‘s Patty Jenkins.

BLUE NIGHT CLIP DROPS: Sarah Jessica Parker plays a sad singer wandering around NYC in Blue Night. A clip for the film has dropped, showing Parker in reflection mode after getting a life-changing medical diagnosis. Rene Zellweger, Common, Simon Baker, Taylor Kinney, Jacqueline Bisset, Waleed Zuaiter and Gus Birney also star in the film, which will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival April 19th.

THE NANTUCKET FILM FESTIVAL SETS NOAH BAUMBACH TRIBUTE: The 23rd annual Nantucket Film Festival has been set for June 20th-25th and has announced its 2018 honorees. Noah Baumbach will receive the Screenwriters Tribute, Morgan Neville will receive the Documentary Storytelling Award and Andrew Heckler will nab the New Voices in Screenwriting Award. The All-Star Comedy Roundtable will focus this year on improv, the festival also announced. Thomas Middleditch and Ben Schwartz will debut their improv show and Ben Stiller will participate in the show and serve as presenter.

TRIBECA BACKS 16 FILMS: The Tribeca Film Institute is backing 16 new films from Latin America and the Caribbean. Twelve are set to receive grants worth $10K. All projects will get financial support, mentoring and workshops. TFI launched its Latin America Fund in 2010, and since has helped fund projects with 76 filmmakers with $750K. “Our long-standing collaborations with over 10 regional partners in Latin America & the Caribbean have been a truly meaningful cultural exchange for TFI. I have been involved with this program since its inception, and have greatly enjoyed seeing these thoughtful storytellers flourish throughout the region. It’s also been a real privilege to have cemented so many great friendships in the process,” said Jose Rodriguez, Director, Documentary Programs, TFI.
