Captain America is Single

Chris Evans confirmed his split with Jenny Slate. Also Captain America. Sigh.

Speaking with the New York Times, the 36-year-old didn’t go into details, just said they (meaning Evans and Slate) broke up “recently.”

• Again, not addressing his relationship directly, but talking around it, he tells the Times he learned to listen more while reading Rebecca Solnit‘s The Mother of All Questions: “The hardest thing to reconcile is that just because you have good intentions, doesn’t mean it’s your time to have a voice.”
• The on-again, off-again pair were linked again in October of last year after breaking up in February of 2017. (They were dating for about a year the first time).
• Regarding his role on Avengers, he told the Times: “You want to get off the train before they push you off.” Evans started playing Steve Rogers in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. His 2019 role in Avengers 4 looks like it will be his last (though, to be fair, many have said they were opting out of an action franchise only to return, cough, Daniel Craig, cough). TBD whether someone else will pick up the shield.
