THE BOBBY BROWN STORY MINISERIES CASTS WHITNEY HOUSTON ROLE: BET has snagged Gabrielle Dennis (Rosewood) to play the iconic Whitney Houston for the two-part miniseries starring Woody McClain as Bobby Brown. The show, set to dorp in September, will document their roller-coaster marriage, and their success and struggles. They were married from 1992-2007. Spike Lee protg Kiel Adrian Scott is directing.
GINA RODRIGUEZ HINTS JANE THE VIRGIN TO END SOON: Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez opened up at SXSW and forecast the beginning of the end for the hit CW show, explaining that the next year will be their “final season.” Jane is currently in its fourth season and seems likely to be renewed.
HUBERT DE GIVENCHY DIES AT 91: The iconic French designer Hubert de Givenchy, founder of the house of Givenchy, died on Saturday at age 91. He was best known for his work with Audrey Hepburn, Jackie O., Elizabeth Taylor and Greta Garbo. The French fashion house confirmed the news, writing on Twitter Monday that he was a “major personality of the world of French Haute Couture and a gentleman who symbolized Parisian chic elegance.”
MIRA SORVINO BECOMES FIRST RECIPIENT OF UCLA LAW AWARD: Mira Sorvino will receive the first UCLA Law Promise Institute Human Rights Award, for her contribution to Human Rights Through the Arts. She will accept the award at UCLA’s summit Lights. Camera. Reaction: The Art of Impact in Entertainment at the Hammer Museum on March 16. Leading lights from Hollywood, law and the human rights arena are set to come together to discuss issues of human rights in bringing stories to the big screen.
