Feb 7, 2018 | 5:00 AM

Ed Sheeran has added eight more shows to his upcoming North American stadium tour in support of his third studio album, Divide. The tour, which begins August 18th at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, will make additional stops in San Francisco’s AT&T Park, Detroit’s Ford Field, Pittsburgh’s PNC Park, Chicago’s Soldier Field, Nashville’s Nissan Stadium and Milwaukee’s Miller Park. Second performances have been added to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, and at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The tour wraps November 11th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Tickets for the new dates go on sale February 16th. Registration to purchase pre-sale tickets is open until February 8th at 10 p.m. [ET.] Pre-sale tickets will then be on sale for those who registered from February 12th at 10 a.m. [ET] until February 15th at 10 p.m. [ET].

Sheeran was recently named Spotify’s most-streamed artist for 2017 and got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Cherry Seaborn.

Divide was also crowned the biggest album of 2017 by Nielsen Music, with sales equivalents exceeding 2.764 million units, and recently won Best Pop Vocal Album at the 60th Grammy Awards. Sheeran’s 8x-platinum smash “Shape Of You” also took home the trophy for Best Pop Solo Performance.

Meanwhile, Sheeran is the subject of a documentary called Songwriter, which will have its debut at this year’s Berlin Film Festival. The film, directed by Ed’s cousin, Murray Cummings, documents the creation of Ed’s hit album Divide and “provides an intimate look” at his work, according to the festival’s website. In addition to interviews with Ed himself, as well as family and friends, the film will also show the star writing a song from scratch, recording at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, working on the album aboard the Queen Mary 2 cruise ship, and visiting his first musical mentor at his old high school.

In a clip from the film, you can see Ed performing his song “Galway Girl” in the backyard of a house, as singer/songwriter Foy Vance, a co-writer on the track, listens.

Songwriter will first screen February 23rd. It’s not clear if it’ll eventually reach theaters worldwide.
