SELENA QUINTANILLA-INSPIRED SERIES IN THE WORKS AT ABC: Late singer Selena Quintanilla is the inspiration behind a forthcoming ABC series. The network gave a put pilot commitment to a new show influenced by the Tejano star’s musical legacy. Miguel Nolla will write the project and co-executive produce with talent manager Scooter Braun. Selena’s father, Abraham Quintanilla, Jr., and sister, Suzette Quintanilla, will serve as producers. The untitled pilot will focus on Alex Guerra, an award-winning pop star who has been estranged from her family for five years. A crisis causes her to return home to Texas, where she juggles a love triangle, the demands of her career and her family’s dark secrets. Selena was killed by her former friend and fan club president, Yolanda Saldivar, at age 23 in 1995. The late singer was honored with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in November.

PITBULL’S MIAMI RESTAURANT TO FEATURE CIGAR ROLLERS, CUBAN SANDWICHES AND 50 KINDS OF MOJITOS: Pitbull is opening his first restaurant in his Miami hometown. The rapper’s new eatery will be called iLov305 and will located inside the Bel-Air Hotel Miami Beach on Ocean Drive. The space features tropical dcor, vintage Spanish tiling and a crystal chandelier. There will also be an area with cigar rollers and a daiquiri bar. As for the food, the menu will reportedly include yellowfin tuna, pork belly sliders, Cuban sandwiches and guava bread pudding. They will also serve something called a 305 burger, which is topped with shrimp, plantains and bacon. The restaurant will have fifty different kinds of mojitos, as well as the usual bar fare. The grand opening is set for this summer.

BRITNEY SPEARS RETURNING TO VEGAS IN 2019 AT DIFFERENT VENUE: Britney Spears closed out her residency at Planet Hollywood’s Axis theater on New Year’s Eve in grand style: Not only did she set a box office record for the venue, but she also set the record for the highest gross from a single show at a Vegas theater residency. Now, Britney has signed a new deal to return to Las Vegas, but this time at the Park Theater at the Monte Carlo resort. It’s the same place where Lady Gaga will stage her residency in December, and where Bruno Mars, Ricky Martin and Cher all rotate as headliners. According to the magazine, the new gig will start in 2019. A source said, “They made the offer and she just couldn’t refuse. She loves Vegas!” Not only that, but staying in one place makes it easier for Britney to spend more time with her sons, 12-year-old Preston and 11-year-old Jaden.
