Kamloops Fire Centre sees average number of spring fires with above average size

KAMLOOPS — The B.C. Wildfire Service says they saw an average number of fire starts in the Kamloops Fire Centre this spring, and an above average amount of hectares burned. 

According to Fire Information Officer Brenna Ward the 51 recorded fires burned a total of 3,785 hectares.

Distraught man leads to lengthy Trans Canada closure east of Kamloops

PRITCHARD, B.C. — Traffic was shut down from more than two hours on the Trans Canada Highway east of Pritchard last night as police dealt with a distraught man threatening to kill himself.

Chase RCMP Sgt. Barry Kennedy says police were initially called at about 7:20 p.m.
