KAMLOOPS —  Kamloops RCMP are investigating after an early morning armed robbery in the TRU area.

In a release, Staff Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk says around 1:00am this morning 3 men allegedly approached a lone individual in the University Drive and College Drive area, and demanded he hand over some of his personal effects.

A small, black pistol was brought out by one of the suspects, however the victim was not harmed.

The victim handed over what he could and got to a place where he could call police.

"Situations such as this remind us of the rare; however, real possibility of being the victim of this type of crime. In this case, the Victim handed his property over as directed and was not harmed. The property we own is most often replaceable. Our wellbeing and personal safety should remain the priority." states Sgt. Brandon Buliziuk in the release.

Due to a firearm being involved, Buliziuk says there is a heavier than normal RCMP presence in the Thompson Rivers University area, and many officers may have tactical vests and patrol rifles on them.

The 3 male suspects are described as mid 20’s, Caucasian, wearing black clothing, last seen on foot heading north along the Summit Connector.

Anyone with any information about the suspects is asked to contact the Kamloops Detachment at 250-828-3000, or Crime Stoppers if you wish to remain anonymous.
