KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Film Festival may have just ended, but the executive director for the city’s film society says it was the best year yet.

Dusan Magdolen, executive director with the Kamloops Film Society, says overall the week-long festival was successful, including numbers for turnout.

“I think overall it went great. In my mind it’s our best year ever, we had great turnout at all our films great responses to our films, great turnouts at all our special events,” Magdolen says. “Our special guests that came from out of town for the various films were super happy with everything, so yeah just an all around great year.”

This was the 23rd annual festival for the city, and Magdolen says turnout and feedback was great. He says new events and new locations helped pave the way for the successful week-long event.

“We’ve really been sort of, for lack of a better term, trying to perfect the model, how we’re scheduling our special events,” Magdolen says. “We used to do them at the end of the day but we’re sort of sanwiching them between screenings… We’ve been strongly partnered with Hotel 540 in the past.

Obviously they were going through renovations, but that actually turned out to be sort of a blessing in that Hotel 540 always took really good care of us, but we were able to go to a few different locations and give people different looks for the various events and there’s some excitement to that as well.”

Magdolen adds the society is looking forward to another successful year in 2020.
