Arson suspected in Shuswap business fire

SCOTCH CREEK, B.C. — RCMP are investigating an arson in Scotch Creek.

According to a news release from Chase RCMP, a commercial building in the 3900-block of Squilax-Anglemont Road was set ablaze last Thursday (Feb. 14).

Police say at about 8:10 p.m., two men passing the building noticed the small fire and were able to extinguish it by kicking snow on it.

They called 911, and Scotch Creek firefighters ensured the flames didn’t spread inside the walls of the building.

The business did sustain minor damage to an exterior wall.

Investigators have concluded the fire was intentionally set, and are looking for any tips from the public as they try to determine who set the fire.
