Robber hits North Shore gas station

KAMLOOPS — RCMP are investigating a weekend robbery at a North Shore gas station.

According to a news release, a suspect walked into the Canco Gas Station in the 200 block of Tranquille Road early Sunday morning (February 10).

The robber demanded cash from the business’s register be placed into a black cloth grocery bag.

Having received the cash, the individual took off on foot, toward the Overlanders Bridge.

No one was hurt, and Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says there was no weapon presented or alluded to.

Suspect description:

  • 5′ 8″ tall
  • Wearing an olive green army-style thick coat over a Carhartt brown jacket, over a blue checkered hoodie.
  • Wearing light blue gloves and had a black neck-gator over the bottom of their face.

Shelkie says, partly because of how the robber was dressed, the clerk could not tell if they were male or female.

“The little bit of the face that was showing — it was undetermined whether it was male or female. They were also wearing a lot of clothing, so that didn’t help any, and [the clerk] couldn’t tell by their voice.”

Shelkie notes there is nothing to suggest this robbery is connected to a string of recent robberies in downtown Kamloops.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
