QUESNEL, B.C. — A woman is dead after she was struck by a vehicle last night in Quesnel.

Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Chris Riddle says the tragedy occurred just after 8:30 p.m. on Maple Drive near Kube Road.

"The pedestrian, a 32-year-old Quesnel woman, was struck and died from the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene."

He says Maple Drive was closed to traffic for several hours while an RCMP traffic analyst and investigators assessed the scene.

Riddle says an initial investigation suggests the woman was wearing dark clothing and was not in a marked crosswalk.
