KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are investigating the third robbery at a downtown business in the past 10 days.

Police say Sunday (Jan. 20) at about 4:20 p.m., a man walked into Whispers Adult Superstore in the 400-block of Seymour Street.

He had his face covered and was carrying a knife, and told the clerk to open the cash register and give him the money inside.

After getting the cash, the man left on foot eastbound on Seymour Street toward Fifth Avenue.

Suspect description:

  • Close to 6 feet tall
  • Medium build
  • Believed to be First Nations
  • Wearing: a black hoodie that has light blue trim on the sleeves, inside the pockets and inside of the hood; a mask that was blue, navy and grey camouflage; baggy jeans

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie acknowledges this is the third instance of a downtown business that has fallen victim to a robbery in the past 10 days, but says it’s not certain they are all connected.

The first two robberies took place at Movie Mart on St. Paul Street.

Shelkie notes the methods are similar, but the suspect descriptions are not.

Anyone with information on any of the three robberies is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
