KAMLOOPS — After a robbery earlier in the week, a local movie store in Kamloops has been robbed again, and RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying two males involved.

Staff Sgt. Mat Van Laer says yesterday afternoon (Jan. 19) around 1:10 p.m, a man came into the Movie Mart located in the 300 block of St. Paul Street.

The man covered his face, and was carrying a box knife, when he jumped over the counter and had the employee open up the cash register.

The man left with the money from the register and began heading west on St. Paul Street, then south again through the east parking of the Double Tree Hotel towards the back alley.

The store clerk was not injured in the incident.

The male is described as:

  •  5’ 8”
  • 160 pounds
  • Caucasian
  • Wearing: Black toque, black bandana, grey zipped up hoody, blue jeans, grey running shoes and black gloves.

RCMP say the suspect met up with another man in the back alley, who is described as:

  • Same height as suspect #1 and approximately same size
  • Wearing: Black baseball cap, black pea coat with a grey hoody underneath, blue jeans, and white running shoes with light blue shoe laces, carrying 1 red “Under Armour” medium size duffle bag.

While this is the second robbery at the same location in just over a week, Kamloops RCMP are still investigating and can’t confirm whether both incidents are related yet.

“We’ve been in contact with both of the staff (members) at the Movie Mart. It also happens to be a business that is relatively close to our main office here. So its not very difficult for us to have an increased presence,” Van Laer says, “We’re certainly interested in making sure that not only that business but every other business in that area is protected from that kind of incident.”

If any member of the public has information about these suspects, they’re urged to please contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828- 3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
