MERRITT — With another winter weather system making its way through the higher elevations this evening (Jan. 19), Environment Canada has continued their snowfall warning on the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt.

Meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau says an unstable system will bring flurries—which could bring up to 15 cm of snow this afternoon.

“People should be prepared to encounter rapidly changing driving conditions along the route today,” She explains, “And it may not be as heavy everywhere right across the route, but locally you could get into some reduced visibility and really quickly accumulating snow if you hit one of these flurries.”

Charbonneau says the flurries should taper off this evening, with Sunday expected to be mostly dry.
