Charges announced in Cache Creek shooting investigation

CACHE CREEK, B.C. — A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to a shooting incident in Cache Creek.

Corey Harkness apparently appeared in Kamloops Provincial Court earlier today (Jan. 17), RCMP say.

On Monday, police responded to a home in the 1000-block of Collins Road in Cache Creek for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived they found a dead man.

Police haven’t confirmed the victim’s identity but social media posts, family members and friends of Brock Ledoux say he was the one shot.

Harkness “has been held in custody” according to police, and will appear in court again tomorrow.

Court documents show Harkness has had several court appearances across the province, for charges including using stolen credit cards, forging credit cards and possessing stolen property.

A family member of Harkness tells CFJC Today that he turned himself in on Wednesday morning. He’s expected to seek bail on Jan. 18.

The charge against Harkness has not been proven in court.

“This incident generated significant interest in the community and the follow-up investigation continues,” states Sgt. Janelle Shoihet. “We are encouraging anyone with information about this incident to contact Southeast District Major Crime Unit investigators at 1 (877) 987-8477.
