PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. — The North District RCMP has launched a homicide investigation after the body of a 40-year-old Prince George man was discovered out near West Lake.

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson says police received a report of a person lying in the ditch along West Lake Estates Road, off Blackwater Road, at around 1:30 p.m. last Saturday (Jan.12).

“The BC RCMP’s North District Major Crime Unit was called in and assumed conduct of the investigation,” she says. “Investigators are treating this death as a homicide.”

Just three hours prior to the body being discovered, Saunderson says police received a report of a vehicle fire on Chilako Station Road, off Highway 16 in the Beaverly area. The vehicle appeared to be abandoned.
