KAMLOOPS — The Mustard Seed New Life Community is preparing for its annual Christmas meal and is in need of a little help.

The meal will take place on Monday (Dec. 24) at 1:00 p.m. at New Life’s Outreach Centre.

Around 200 people are expected to attend the event and receive a full turkey dinner.

The Outreach Centre is still in need of a few things before Christmas Eve.

“We still could use five or so volunteers on Saturday the 22nd to do prep from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., working with our chefs to chop and slice and dice and peel,” said Managing Director, Diane Down.

“And then the other needs really are around food stuffs. Save-On has always been so generous to give us our turkeys so that’s squared away and our vegetables are squared away. What we really need still are pies and whipped cream and coffee.”

Managing Director Diane Down says there are a lot of people in need this holiday season and the Outreach Centre has no restrictions on who can attend the holiday meal.

“There’s no stereotype for that,” she said. “Sure, there are some folks that are experiencing homelessness right now that will come and join us for that lunch, and there will also be some families who are housed that will also come. Our doors are wide open.”
