KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops-Thompson-Cariboo Federal NDP elected a new Executive Committee which includes Bill Sundhu, who was the NDP candidate in the 2015 federal election. Sundhu was elected President at the local riding annual general meeting, after he had announced in late November that he would not be seeking the party nomination for the 2019 general election.

“I have undertaken significant personal and professional responsibilities and it seemed unfair if I were unable to not fulfil them” said Sundhu, a Kamloops lawyer, practicing criminal justice and international human rights law. “The needs of running an effective campaign cannot accommodate both.”

Sundhu, who also serves on the Board of Governors of UBC, said that it was not an easy decision because the NDP came close to victory in 2015.

The new Executive includes Sandra Bandura (Vice-President), Inga Thomson Hilton (Secretary), and Michael Crawford (Financial Agent), along with a full slate of table officers. The new Executive is gearing up for candidate nomination in the New Year and election planning.
