BC trade trip to China put on hold following detention of Huawei official
BRITISH COLUMBIA — A judicial process involving a top official with Huawei Technologies has put a hold on the planned B.C Government trade trip to China.
Huawei’s Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou was arrested last week while going through Vancouver’s airport, and is reportedly suspected of trying to evade U.S. trade curbs on Iran.
Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology, Bruce Ralson issued the following statement today on the rescheduled meetings of B.C’s current Forestry Asia Trade Mission:
“The Province of British Columbia has suspended the China leg of its Asian forestry trade mission due to the international judicial process underway relating to a senior official at Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
