KAMLOOPS — A fire at the Sahali McDonald’s last night didn’t last long after Kamloops Fire and Rescue arrived on scene.

Platoon Captain Darryl Cooper says a container beside the restaurant’s deep fryer caught on fire.

“The staff hit it with an extinguisher, but it was still quite smoky when we arrived,” He explains, “Crews went in to continue extinguishing it, and the automatic extinguishing system kicked it, and it was out.”

While the fire was minor, Captain Cooper says the McDonald’s was closed for the evening after that, and he’s not sure when it is re-opening.
