City of Kamloops wins major award for Norbrock Stadium turf

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has won a prestigious award for a worldwide organization of sports field professionals.

The Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) awarded the 2018 “Field of the Year” award to Norbrock Stadium, in the ‘Schools and Parks – Baseball’ category.

Sports Field Manager Shawn Cook and Turf Crew Leader Mike DeCicco are specifically named.

Awards were announced in 12 categories, with Norbrock the only field in Canada to receive a nod.

According to a news release, STMA consists of 2,700 “men and women who manage sports fields worldwide who are critical to the safety of athletes and coaches.”
